What defines a great leader?

Many would jump at the opportunity to be a leader. Are they leading because they hold a title?

Think again, what does a leader have to do to earn the respect?

What quality does one need to have to qualify as a good leader ?

To many a leader lead by his action, not by words alone.

Leader is always ready to serve. They look for gaps and they just step up to fill the gap.

A real leader is a giver, not a taker. They do not ask "whats in it for me". They are selfless. 

People can see through you if you are not sincere.

So does a leader has to be successful first before they lead ?
Yes to most people. Yet to me, the moment you are ready to serve, you are already leading.
In due course, people will notice you and you will learn as you serve. Success will come your way.
So jump in and start serving, or leading.
